The Texas Veterans Commission held its Annual Veterans Summit Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Representative Jimmie Don Aycock was asked to participate in a legislative pannel addressing veteran/military issues in the upcoming 83rd legislature. Aycock voiced the need to assist service members with education benefits, especially encouraging the granting of college credit for training received while serving. He said, ” As the looming military reduductions take place we must be prepared to assist our returning service members transition into the Texas workforce. The best way to do that is through helping them obtain credentials that lead to a good job.” Aycock is a veteran who formerly served as post veterinarian at Ft. Hood.
